Cheaper By the Dozen is a fun movie with drama, comedy, and good old fashioned family values. Overall, this movie was a joy to watch.

The Good

Tom Welling: Tom Welling was amazing as Charlie Baker. He played the role differently than his Clark Kent character. There was a little more rebelliousness in Charlie. One thing I noticed was every time the camera swung around to Tom, he was totally in character reacting to the scene going on around him. I loved the scene where he confronted Jared Padalecki. Charlie had really had it at that point. Tiny Hilary Duff separating them was a nice touch.

The scene between Tom and Steve was extremely realistic. Charlie needed his father and he wasn't there when he needed him the most. Charlie's anger with all that had been happening to him at school came through loud and clear, but Tom Baker handled his son very well. You could see the hurt from Charlie and the love from Tom Baker displayed between the two. Both actors did a wonderful job.

Another really great scene was watching Tom and Steve cook breakfast. If you watch the scene and keep your eyes on Tom, it looks like he has done this before. He seems really comfortable fixing breakfast. AND he looks amazingly sexy doing it. Of course, how could he not look sexy at anything he does?

Another comment...whoever played Beth was sure one lucky girl. Some of the pictures of her and Tom were sweet and cuddly. Mmmm, wouldn't have minded playing that part myself.

Bonnie Hunt and Steve Martin: These two have amazing chemistry on screen. They were convincing as parents of twelve. I agree with Tom Welling about Steve Martin. He is definitely an icon.

The younger children: These kids were so amazing. I couldn't believe how well they did as actors. You really felt like you were stepping into the Baker's lives. The scene with them soaking Nora's boyfriend's underwear in meat was absolutely hilarious. Sarah Baker was the ultimate mischievous child, the definite instigator in all trouble.

Charlie Baker's Bedroom at the Midland House: Very nice touch to have photos of Beth and Charlie all over the place in Charlie's room. There was great attention to detail.

The Bad

There weren't enough scenes with Tom as Charlie Baker!

I give 'Cheaper By the Dozen' 4.5 out of 5 stars.
