Nemesis was one of the best episodes this season, bringing quite a few relationships to a different level. The episode was fast paced and kept me riveted to the screen waiting for the next scene with anticipation.

The Good

Clark: Could he be more like Superman? He was strong, determined and compassionate. His strength of will to move through the kryptonite infested tunnels was heart wrenching and heroic. Tom did an amazing job of portraying Clark fighting back the weakness to his body as he fought not to show it. In his conversation with Chloe about saving Lex, Clark's response was like it should be. He couldn't just let Lex die. If it were possible for him to save him, he had to do it. In this case, it almost cost him his life. What a wonderful nod to the sun and Clark's powers after the explosion. Very well done!!

Lex: Michael Rosenbaum was fantastic in this episode. The range of emotion that he showed during the episode was believable. He actually lost his color when Mrs. Keenan said, "What's wrong, Mr. Luthor? Haven't you ever done anything crazy for love?"

Clark and Lex: The scenes between these two actors have never disappointed in the past and in Nemesis, they far exceeded expectations. The anger of past hurts and disappointments, the lack of trust, and the friendship they once had was very evident in the body language of both Clark and Lex. There was also a longing for that friendship again in both of them when Lana was hugging Lex and he looked over at Clark. It was like they both knew they would never be able to go back and they have both irrevocably changed.

The initial scene between Lex and Clark was explosive. We find out that Lex was aware of the chisel, but was confused by the fact Clark had shrapnel in his arm. It definitely shows that Lex thinks that Clark is meteor infected at this point. Clark validated that point with his response about what Lex was doing down in the tunnels, 'exploiting people with powers other than his'? Interesting use of the word other…

Clark and Chloe: Clark seems to be taking more of a lead in his relationship with Chloe. She is definitely taking less precedence in Clark's destiny. Clark is calling the shots. Disappointment and confusion were evident on Clark's face when Chloe revealed that Lana knew how to rescue Lex, but until she found out Clark was down there, she wasn't going to reveal what she knew.

Clark and Martha: What a great conversation between Clark and Martha! It was sad to see Clark blaming himself for giving up on Lex too soon. He was definitely shaken by his encounter with Lex in the tunnels. He saw his a glimpse of the friend he once had and missed that relationship greatly. Martha was so right to say that Clark's greatest strength and weakness is his hope in the goodness in people.

Clark and Lana: The scene between Lana and Clark seemed almost a goodbye to me. A final embrace before she changes things between them irrevocably. Her decision was made when she trailed her hand across his chest and ran to Lex to play the loving wife.

Lana: She was cold, calculating... a mix of Lionel and Lex. Lana was downright scary in this episode. She has had enough of playing the victim and is now taking charge in the most sinister way.

Lana and Lionel: If looks could kill, Lionel would be shredded to ribbons about now. It looks like Lionel has finally met his match. Lana is pissed and she is out for blood. Lionel better tread carefully. Lana wouldn't have hesitated to kill Lionel if she hadn't of gotten the answers she wanted.

Lana and Lex: Lex is now on the side of 'victim'. Lana is playing Lex in the same fashion that he played her. The roles have definitely been reversed and it will be interesting to see how this plays out. Lana is definitely a force to be reckoned with. She is out for revenge.

Lana and Chloe: Chloe was very uncomfortable with the change in Lana. She was calm and cold, saying all the right things. The only response of emotion was when she realized Clark could die down in the caves.

The Bad

Nada.

I give "Nemesis" 5 out of 5 stars.
