Turbulence showed us a strong, unflappable Clark Kent and the turmoil of Davis Bloom and the beast within. Overall, this was a very well done episode and furthered the storyline for this season.

The Good

Tom Welling: Tom Welling was brilliant in his portrayal of Clark Kent. He was sexy in his Daily Planet uniform! Tom's expressions and body language throughout his performance kept the viewer engaged and privy to Clark Kent's thoughts.

Clark Kent and Tess Mercer: I really enjoyed the playful, sexy, intense banter between these two. The chemistry between them is very interesting and Cassidy plays Tess very well. She was softer and teasing in her interaction with Clark. I'm not sure what to think about her motives. We know she isn't squeaky clean. After all, she killed Reagan and who knows who else, but yet I was ready to spill all my secrets after listening to her tempt Clark to do the same.

Clark was strong and unyielding, but yet compassionate and kind in his interaction with Tess. Very much the Superman we all know and love. I enjoyed his little trick to get Tess to drink and tell him what she knew about him even if it didn't work.

Loved Clark's outfit when he visited Tess at the mansion. Yummy! (Yeah, I know... shallow)

It is very obvious Tess knows something and is heavily dropping hints to get Clark to open up and talk to her. Clark is cool and collected under her onslaught. The interaction concerning Clark's secret is so very different than it was between Lex and Clark or even Lana and Clark. The angst isn't there. It is more like a chess game... here is my move, now what is yours.

Clark Kent and Chloe Sullivan: Clark thinking for himself and not letting Chloe sway him or make him doubt what he is doing was refreshing to see. His responses were quick and precise. The quick costume change was adorable as well as the 'slowing down' so the cameras could catch him saving people to give Metropolis hope. Chloe seems desperate to keep Clark hidden. I wonder if it is more than just concern for his welfare.

Davis/Chloe/Jimmy Triangle: I was expecting teenage angst with this but was pleasantly surprised. It was more of a murderer trying to cover his tracks and play two people against each other. The storyline was very believable with Jimmy's and Chloe's reactions. The music behind the scenes between these three was intense and creepy. Very indicative of Doomsday's evolvement.

Jimmy Olsen: Wow, what a strong performance. I have new respect for Aaron Ashmore! The anger, hurt, and disbelief were so well done. It looks like this is the beginning of the end for Chloe and Jimmy's marriage.

Davis Bloome: Dark, conniving, and desperate. Sam Witwer put on an outstanding performance of a conflicted being trying to come to terms with who he really is and control it. The conflict inside him to hide and control is overwhelming him and it shows in his desperation to keep Jimmy from revealing his secret... that he is a murderer!

Music: The music chosen for this episode was spot on. It drew you into the scene and caused emotion to flow with the scene.

Special Effects: Both Jimmy's nightmare and drug induced hallucination was amazing. Gave me chills in both cases.

Nod to Mythos: I squealed when Clark changed into his Red-and-Blue- Blur Costume both times, but especially the Daily Planet phone booth scene.

The Bad

Clark Kent: Not enough of him on screen.

Confession Teaser: I thought this was a bid to get the viewer to sympathized with Bloome's dilemma. It didn't work for me. However, it did give us background on how Davis is controlling his inner beast.

Chloe: Chloe at times was very whiny to me in this episode in her scenes with Clark. It seems to me there may be a breakdown in her friendship with Clark and that is something I really don't want to see.

I give 'Turbulence 4.25 out of 5 stars.
