Metallo brings another DC Universe character to Smallville in a bittersweet, emotional story line. Emotional for both Metallo and The Blur. The episode was well written and edited. The flow was perfect for the story. Not to mention the story began and ended with the Superman symbol.

Tom's Performance: As always, Tom Welling's performance was superb. He truly is the character of Clark Kent/Superman! No other man could convince me that the superhero might really exist but him.

The Good

The Blur/Clark Kent: Clark was amazing in this episode as we find out he hasn't totally left his human existence behind. Confident and reflective, Clark's emotions throughout the episode really tugged at the heart strings as well as made this girl very proud of him. The decisions made were his and only his. He was smart and compassionate in his role as the Blur. The most profound scene to me was the scene with The Blur on the roof of the Daily Planet listening to all those voices in the city. The scene brought tears to my eyes as he listened to everyone else living life and being set apart from that.

The Blur and Lois Lane: Tom and Erica do a great job at playing the longing in the Blur to reveal himself and Lois being in awe of a hero she worships. The scene after The Blur takes care of Metallo was well done. The step forward, the indecision and finally regret and speeding away kept your breath suspended and sitting on the edge of your seat, the expectancy was so real.

Clark Kent and Lois Lane: When Clark reappears, the reunion is so cute. Lois is in the moment until she realizes what she reveals. Her eyes closed and hanging on to him for dear life. I know I would! Clark's confidence and teasing manner with her is adorable. I really love this Lois and Clark so much better than when they are at odds.

Clark and Chloe: The interaction between Clark and Chloe was amazing in this episode. I loved the hint of uneasiness in the beginning and then coming back full circle to where they have a conversation similar to their old ones. It was nice to see them both making decisions in the last scene of them together. Chloe seems to be accepting things can't be changed and Clark realizes his human side can't be put aside. This line really got to me with Tom's delivery:"What's the point in protecting life if you've lost your sense of how to live it?" This was a lesson for them both.

Clark and John Corbin/Metallo: Clark's compassion for Metallo made the fight scene even more exciting. Also, his intelligence in how he determined the best way to defeat Metallo was great to see.

Clark and Emil Hamilton: I really like the dynamic between these two. Emil was so funny trying to recover from Clark's entrance. I look forward to more scientific as well as friendly interaction between these two. Emil is a nice addition to the show.

Lois and Tess: I enjoyed their scene together. Neither one likes the other and can't help smirking with glee when they get one over on the other. Lois is truly becoming the hard-nosed reporter that makes her so legendary.

Chloe and Lois: The humorous scenes between these two were spot on. Chloe was feeling a little left out with Clark turning to Lois. A little jealousy tempered with protectiveness of both Clark and Lois was the main Chloe emotion and Allison played that well.

Lois' Dream: I am really enjoying the slight changes in the dream. This time we see Clark's black shirt with the \S/ on it shredded and hanging on a pole blowing in the wind. It was rather a chilling sight. I hope they continue to reveal the pieces in each episode. Not to mention the making out between Lois and Clark just gets hotter and hotter.

Metallo: Brian Austin Green did an amazing job as Metallo. The emotion and change in him was believable.

Shelby and mention of Martha: It was great to hear that Clark is still communicating with Martha and taking care of Shelby.

The Bad

Zod storyline: I know they are trying to drag this out for the entire season, but I think it is still to cryptic at this point. I think a few more hints would be good. Right now, it is rather too confusing and I am usually rather good at speculating on these things. If they aren't careful, they are going to lose the storyline on this one.

Tess: Tess and her entourage is puzzling to me. Other than giving us information on Zod and the Kandorian's trail, she really didn't have any use in this episode other than to rehire Lois.

Not enough Tom: There is NEVER enough Tom and this episode was heavy on the guest star.

Shelby: What is the sex of Shelby? Lois seems to think he's a girl. They need to get this straight.

My rating? I give 'Metallo 4.25 out of 5 stars.
