Crossfire was all about couples, friends and foreplay! A lighthearted, angst free, feel good episode that still managed to move along the relationships of Clark with both Lois and Chloe as well as put closure to the romantic relationship between Lois and Oliver. It also brought in a couple of new relationships that will be interesting to see unfold. The music was fantastic for each scene as well as the special effects for the scene on the rooftop. They pulled out all the stops on that one. They even included a legendary kiss!

Tom's Performance: As always, Tom is the highlight of the show. His comedic timing is incredible! AND he looks better each time he is on screen: hotter, sexier, and more adorable! A girl's heart is in danger every week!

The Good

Clark: Clark is the leader throughout in all the scenes he has. His confidence and maturity are so evident this season. Clark has truly grown up! He is adorable and always thinking of others. It was a nice twist to see him go after what he wants. It was also great to see the Clark's maturity as he handles the possibility of Oliver and Lois being in love. No sad puppy dog eyes.

Clark and Lois: I love how Lois has grown. She is endearing, tender and caring. Much softer around the edges. The growth of Lois resulted in teasing that was tender and sexy. Clark gives as good as he gets resulting in a flustered, adoring Lois. It is evident she likes the man Clark has become. He never loses his cool and always seems to say the right thing to melt a girl's heart to Lois' chagrin. Lois is totally outdone when Ollie shows up for the blind date. She is uneasy with Clark being there. I'm guessing she didn't want Clark to think anything was going on between them. She is after all, trying to impress Clark! AND that kiss at the end! Clark looks at Lois like he could eat her up. His adoration for her is so clear on his face. Then, he totally heats up the screen with a kiss planted on our chatty Lois Lane. Could anything be sexier?

Clark and Oliver: Oliver has to take one more chance with Lois, even though he knows Clark and Lois are more than just friends, or at least headed in that direction. Clark, however, is willing to sacrifice his own happiness for a friend's happiness and Oliver isn't even a best friend. The look between Clark and Oliver said so much in the scene on the rooftop with Clark catching the bullet. Oliver is a firsthand witness to Clark's amazing power. I think this is the first time he realizes just how powerful Clark is and how lucky he is to have Clark on his side. I hope to see this relationship grow in a healthier direction as well as deal with the elephants in the room, such as Lex's (so called) murder (we know he really isn't dead), shooting Clark with kryptonite arrow, and the list goes on.

Clark and Chloe: Positive progress was made in this relationship. At the Daily Planet, the relationship was still a little stiff, but we got a glimpse of the old camaraderie at Watchtower when Chloe told Clark it was okay to go after what he wanted and to think of his own happiness for once instead of everyone else's. It was nice to see Chloe ask Clark's permission to go after Tess, but Clark's face indicated he might still not totally trust Chloe as of yet.

Clark and Catherine Grant: This was a nice introduction to a comic book character. The casting was perfect and I thought they had a fun and quirky chemistry. Clark was very confident and friendly, not a bumbling farm boy as everyone seems to expect him to be. Lois' reaction to Catherine was classic. The earpiece incident was too cute and Tom plays awkward well.

Zod and Tess: What a darkly erotic chess game! These two are a nice matchup of villains for Smallville. The hint of mystery and sensual chemistry between them is hot! Zod is definitely bigoted when it comes to humans. "No human will ever stand on equal footing with a Kandorian." Tess' expression says, "You wanna bet?" He seriously underestimates Tess. (Interesting thing that Clark keeps telling the AI to not underestimate humans.) Tess demands Zod's respect so she kills his 'superior' Kandorian minion. Check! The scene where Tess delivers the dog tags to Zod brings up another question. Does Tess have powers? It will be interesting to see where this goes. To a check mate?

Oliver and Lois: We finally get closure for the romance between Oliver and Lois as Lois admits to him she is in love with Clark and only sees him as a friend. I enjoyed the fight scene and thought Lois and Oliver really held their own until the gun came out. It was great though, that it was Clark who saved them from certain death.

Oliver and Mia Deardon: Oliver's redemption from last episode seems to have changed him. He is more likeable and vulnerable. His brotherly interaction with Mia is his chance to pay forward what his friends have done for him. The sanctimonious Oliver seems to be gone: you know, the one with the chip on his shoulder. I hope he stays gone.

Chloe and Stuart: This was a nice surprise. The cyber foreplay was cute. Stuart's own arrogance gets him caught. It was a nice twist that they brought him over to the 'light' side. I look forward to seeing more of him and Chloe.

Special effects:They pulled out all the stops on the scene on the rooftop. The machine gun and first three bullets going into slow motion was too cool. Whoops, one bullet got past. Good thing Clark turned around and saw that!

The Bad

Oliver and Mia Deardon: The scene when they first met was a little too "Pretty Woman" to me. I thought they could have been a little more original with this.

I give 'Crossfire 4.75 out of 5 stars.
