Warrior, written by Bryan Q. Miller, attempted to show us the difference between fantasy and real life and the need for both in real life heroes who must weld their powers via sacrifice, responsibility and accountability. This came through loud and clear in the dialog, but I don't think it was well executed in the episode. The pacing was erratic and disjointed.

Tom's Performance: Tom Welling as always was brilliant in his portrayal of Clark Kent. We were treated to a glimpse of out-of-his-element Clark and he was adorable. His emotions ranged from frustration, exasperation, and confusion to kindness, compassion, and understanding.

The Good

Clark Kent: It was nice to hear Clark's point of view on being a hero, real life, and Lois. Finally, he is allowed to vocalize how he really feels.

Clark Kent and Zatanna: The interaction and chemistry between these two made the episode. Zatanna is sexy and mischievous. Her teasing succeeded in making Clark just a little uncomfortable. They work together very well without swelling egos as sometimes happen when Clark has to work with Oliver. It was nice to see true team work. Clark isn't the problem when it comes to team work, the rest of the burgeoning Justice League is. It was nice to see Clark overcome the magic Zatanna zapped him with. The line, "I think we've found someone with a mouth more magical than mine," had me cracking up. It fit right in with her character.

Clark and Lois: Lois' insecurity was played very well. She didn't blow up, she just got all tangled up in her telephone cord every time Clark was in the vicinity. I liked the fact that Lois keeps Clark guessing and a little off kilter. It definitely keeps him on his toes. Not to mention pulling double duty as errand boy and hero! I really do like the way their relationship is evolving.

Clark and Alec: I loved the fact that the Blur revealed his identity to Alec. The child needed that at the moment. As a superhero fan, he would never reveal Clark's alter ego so I think his secret is safe. The conversation between them in the loft (hey, a loft scene!) was sweet. Clark was very superman-like and so kind and understanding to Alec. The drawing was a nice touch: glasses, red cape and all! I like the \S/ better, too!

Warrior Angel: The concept of a child in an adult body has to be difficult to pull off, but this actor did a wonderful job of staying in character the entire time, even when he 'saved the day'.

Lois and Chloe: It was nice to see the two cousins with a little face time.

Superman Nods: There were quite a few. The drawing of the RBB with glasses and the mention of the \S/, from orphan to hero in the main story line, Superfriends sticking together from Zatanna AND a lot of red and blue!

The music, lighting and scenery: Hats off to the behind the scene folks. The episode was pleasant to the eye and ear.

The Bad

Clark: There was too little of Clark in this and most of the time he was stuck in a romantic boggle other than for a moment he expressed his point of view. I didn't see anything but redundancy concerning his character. No move forward. Just a stalemate.

Warrior Angel and Chloe Flying: No! No! No! By the time Clark does fly it is going to be anti-climactic at this rate.

Warrior Angel Storyline: I expected more from Mr. Miller. This storyline was campy and not Smallville worthy. Not to mention it underutilized a great opportunity, Zatanna. It seemed geared toward adolescent fantasy even though it kept trying to convince us it was adult fantasy they were conveying.

Chloe: Chloe not trusting Clark yet again after last week. This episode definitely seemed misplaced in the scheme of things. It should have definitely been before Absolute Justice. However, Clark has gotten to know Chloe well these last few months and knew immediately she was trying to fix things herself. GO CLARK!

Oliver and Chloe: This scene seemed rather weird to me. It was too out of left field. Maybe that is how they intended for it to be, but it doesn't make sense at all the way it was set up. There was absolutely no chemistry between the two. After watching it three times, I still didn't see it. It left you feeling, 'What just happened?' Maybe this was supposed to be Lois' suggestion in the beginning about Chloe getting her hands on a hunky human fantasy?

I give 'Warrior 3 out of 5 stars.
